Radio Blog: New Playlist

This one’s been up for more than one month. Time to change the playlist again.

I’m in a bit of a nostalgic mood these days, as some of the songs may betray it.

  • Apocalyptica — Path: A Finnish band who heavily uses cellos as well as electric instruments in their performances. The end result is really interesting.

  • Tesla — Heaven Nine Eleven: Still around and kicking. This is from their Into The New album.

  • Zager and Evans — In The Year 2525: This also doesn’t make us feel younger, does it?

  • Within Temptation — It’s The Fear: From The Silent Force again.

  • Iron Maiden — Blood brothers: Ah, iron Maiden. This band always brings me back to when I was 13.

  • Joan Baez — Diamonds and Rust: Back in time again. I also have a more recent version by Blackmore’s Night, but I keep on thinking that this one is better.

  • Clint Mansell — Lux Aeterna: From the Requiem for a Dream OST. I’ll recommend this movie any time, by the way: not only the soundtrack is good in it.

  • Sarah Brightman — Eden: Beautiful soprano voice and beautiful male choir on this one. Should one ask for more?

  • In Nomine — Mitternacht: Enough nostalgia… here comes something different.

  • Add N To X — Take me To Your Leader: In spite of the saturated sound, I find this song oddly bouncy and even cheerful, in a way.

  • Bella Morte — First Light: This one holds a special meaning to me, I admit.

  • In The Nursery — GL (Groundloop): Let’s see if this one will be stuck playing in your heads the way it was in mine…

  • Therion — Lemuria: From the Lemuria/Sirius B album.

  • Mortal Love — I Want To Die: Sad title and theme, but quite fascinating lyrics and melody.

    Yzabel,

Damn fine playlist!! I lost track of the number of times I’ve listened to the entire list. Not only did you introduce me to a lot of great music I hadn’t heard, but you reintroduced me to one of my all-time fave songs (In The Year 2525). I couldn’t remember who did the original. Now I know.

I can’t wait to check out your next playlist. Was it one your posts that turned me on to David Byrne’s audiocast? If not, check out http://www.davidbyrne.com/radio/index.php

    cheers,

    raj
